SB926 - Licensure Examinations for Dental Practitioners
Effective Date: April 6, 2022
SB 926 (Full Text)
Summary:
The bill revises the licensure examination requirements for dentists and dental hygienists by allowing candidates to demonstrate clinical skills on a manikin with typodont teeth approved by the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA), rather than a live patient.
The bill removes the requirement that dental schools offering the licensure examinations maintain a written plan requiring dental students to possess medical malpractice insurance and to make adequate arrangements for patients who require follow-up care. The bill also repeals the authorization for the Board of Dentistry to require any person applying to take the dental or dental hygiene examination in Florida maintain medical malpractice insurance.
